 I-cholera yisifo esithelelwanayo esilakho ukubulala. I-cholera ibangelwa yizibungwana ezibizwa ngokuthi ngama-vibrio cholerae.

 

Izibungwana lezi zihlala emathunjini amancane okwenza umzimba ulahlekelwe ngamanzi amanengi (dehydration) ngokuhuda kakhulu kanye lokuhlanza.

 

I-cholera ithelelwana ngokuxhawula umuntu olezibungwana lezi ezandleni, ukunatha amanzi angcolileyo, ubutshapha , ukudla imibhida ethelelwe ngamanzi alengcekeza yabantu abalesifo se-cholera, ukudla inyama kumbe okunye ukudla okungabe kulezibungwana ze-cholera okuphekwe kwangavuthwa.

Indlela zokuvikela i-cholera

Nanzelela wonke umuntu usengozini yokuba lesifo se-cholera. Kungakho-ke uzulu uxwayiswa ukuthi avikele i-cholera ngoku:

* Natha kanye lokusebenzisa amanzi ahlanzekileyo. Bilisa amanzi akho kumbe ufake amaphilisi okuhlanza amanzi ungakawanathi ngaso sonke isikhathi.

* Geza izandla zakho ngamanzi alesepa kumbe umlotha ngaso sonke isikhathi ikakhulu nxa uvela sebenzisa isambuzi, lanxa usulungiselela ukupheka loba ukubamba ukudla.

*Dlana ukudla kusatshisa njalo okuphekwe kwavuthisisa. Bona ukuthi ukudla kuhlala kuvaliwe. Nxa usidla izithelo zihlube.

* Sebenzisa isambuzi nxa usiya ngaphandle kulokuya egangeni. Ungenzi ingcekeza loba ukuhlanza emanzini kungaba semfuleni loba echibini.
